HEARTBLEED ALERT- LARGEST INTERNET SECURITY VULNERABILITY IN HISTORY

This is a reminder to change passwords on major websites that may have your payment or VISA card information, if you have not done so already. Some websites may not have "updated" their security yet, so you should change your password as soon as they do. Note: Some major websites are claiming they are secure, but that is because they have just barely updated their security, which means that your password may have already been compromised before this vulnerability was discovered. We suggest you change your password anyway on sites like Paypal, etc. (better safe than sorry).

MONITOR YOUR ACCOUNT! It is vital that you watch your account to detect any fraudulent transactions, and that you contact us immediately if you see any fraud. Failing to report the fraud to us could result in you being liable for losses!

Please use our free tools to monitor your account, like E-ALERTS. Our system can send you a text and e-mail any time transactions over a specified limit hit your account. To set up E-ALERTS login to Online Banking and click on "SERVICES" then click on "MANAGE E-ALERTS," and you may add as many as you wish for your checking account or Credit Card. In addition to E-Alerts you can monitor your account with online banking, mobile banking, or our 24-hour automated teller.

We are pleased to report that our own Online Banking was not vulnerable to this threat, but the risk remains that your Debit Card or Credit Card information may be stolen from some other website, or may have already been stolen. Please contact us if you have any questions by calling (509) 735-8331, and remember to diligently monitor your account.

Some members have received automated phone calls regarding a false opportunity to lower their Credit Card interest rate. This is a scam, please just hang up and NEVER give out any of your personal information to solicitors of any kind.

Auto Warranty Services Question:

When does the manufacturer's warranty on your vehicle expire? Answer: Right before you need it!

The automobile industry spends millions studying the longevity of their manufactured vehicles. If you were to dive into their data, you would discover that the majority of mechanical and system failures occur within the first few months of a vehicle's life and/or after roughly 40,000 miles.

Certainly they want to provide a warranty on the car when it is new so that you will be happy with them and come back for more. They want their customers to drive away with peace of mind. However, that warranty goes away just as the data shows that more problems will pop up. According to the manufacturer's data, when the warranty goes, the water pump goes. When the warranty goes, the transmission goes. When the warranty goes, the peace of mind goes.

Tri-Cities Community FCU has a program to help our members with this problem. We are now able to provide protection for your vehicle as well as peace of mind for you. Our coverage programs provide roadside assistance, trip interruption protection, rental car coverage, and other benefits in addition to covering the cost of parts and labor for your breakdown. Our program protects you and your vehicle nationwide and for an unlimited number of claims.

Regain your Peace of Mind. Talk to us about our Motorist Assistance Plan Service Contracts today. Financing options available, contact Trevor at 735-8331.

Debit Card Fraud Prevention Calls

As a debit card holder you may receive a phone call from our fraud prevention company requesting confirmation of recent transactions- especially if you are shopping out of town. If they left a number for you to call back please do so, or your debit card could be deactivated to prevent possible fraudulent use. If it is after-hours call 1-877-253-8964.

If you need to report your DEBIT card lost or stolen (or if you discovered fraud yourself) please call 800-417-8715 after hours. If your VISA CREDIT CARD was lost or stolen, please call 800-325-3678.

Remember: Legitimate fraud prevention phone calls will not ask for your account number, card number, birthday, social security number or any other personal information- and we will never contact (by phone, e-mail or otherwise) you to ask for this information because we already have it!

If you are suspicious that fraudulent transactions are being made on your account contact the Credit Union immediately or you could be liable for them.
