About Your Credit Union
Tri-Cities Community Federal credit Union is a federally chartered credit union that was founded in 1969 by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 112. Our name at that time was IBEW #112 Federal Credit Union and our membership was restricted to the electricians and their families. In early 1983, the charter was changed to include any person living or working in Kennewick, then in 1986 the name was changed to Kennewick Community Federal Credit Union. In August 2009 the name was changed again to Tri-Cities Community Federal Credit Union and membership was expanded to include anyone who lives, works, worships or attends school in Benton or Franklin County, or a member’s immediate family.
As a credit union we are a not-for-profit financial cooperative that is tax exempt. Profits are returned to our member- owners in the form of better rates, lower fees, better service and more products. Our founding philosophy is to help the “common person” achieve their financial goals through the money we can help them save, by encouraging thrift and by providing financial education when possible. We are managed by a member-elected volunteer Board of Directors. The Credit Union employees have been unionized with OPIEU since the founding in 1969.
To open an account, and make a minimum deposit of $5.00, which is the value of one share in the credit union. Dividends are computed on a DAILY basis and paid MONTHLY on each share.
